Second Avenue Software wins 2008 Communicator Award of Distinction
ROCHESTER, NY - June 13, 2008 - Second Avenue Software, a Pittsford-based software development company specializing in educational software and media production, has won a 2008 Communicator Award of Distinction for Virtual Science Investigations.
“We knew we had an exceptional product”, says Victoria (Tory) VanVoorhis, CEO of the three-year-old firm, “but we wanted to see how our work stacked up against other offerings in the category. This gives us an idea of how we’re doing and gives something to shoot for.”
The product, Virtual Science Investigations, is a set of interactive learning applications for biology and the physical sciences developed by Second Avenue Software for Holt, Reinhart and Winston. This project used Rochester-area talent, including programmers, artists, animators, subject matter experts, recording engineers, and voice talent. Virtual Science Investigations was launched to the high school market in 2007.
With over 9,000 entries from across the US and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program in the category. They are judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA), a 200+ member organization of communications experts from a variety of disciplines within the visual arts community. They are dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.
