Second Avenue Software volunteers at YWCA for United Way Day of Caring
PITTSFORD, NY – The Second Ave Software team participated in yesterday's United Way Day of Caring by volunteering at the YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County.
The United Way Day of Caring promotes volunteer work in the community. Each year, thousands of people take a day off from work or school to lend their time, talents and energy to help local not-for-profit service providers with various projects. Last year, more than 9,000 volunteers worked on 500 projects in and around Rochester.
The YWCA is focused on providing women and families with a safe and supportive place to live. The YWCA addresses a variety of housing needs and provides young parent support services for women and their children.
Second Ave Software's contribution this year was to improve the YWCA facility for its clients by performing yardwork. The Second Ave team improved the playground and gardens by pulling weeds, pruning branches and applying mulch, and painted some of the emergency housing units.
