Second Avenue Software team races in Chase Corporate Challenge at RIT
ROCHESTER, NY – The Second Ave Software team participated in the 2010 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge at the Rochester Institute of Technology campus on June 3.
The Chase Corporate Challenge is an annual opportunity for companies in several countries to take part in foot races for charity. This year's challenge is being held in twelve different cities in six countries over the course of the year.
The Rochester event supported the Rochester Urban Fellowship Program, which gives Rochester college students the opportunity to work with local agencies in fields such as health care, housing, and economic development. This ten-week program helps to teach students about urban issues, and encourages them to become involved in the community.
More than 9,100 participants from over four hundred companies took part in the Rochester challenge, which required participants to run 3.5 miles around the RIT campus. Nine members of the Second Ave team participated in the race; Second Ave's swiftest team member completed the race in just under thirty minutes.
"As an experienced runner, I've noticed for a long time that there is great camaraderie within the running community," said Rebecca Ferraro, manager of business development at Second Ave. "Events such as the Corporate Challenge promote better relationships on and off the course."
“This was a great opportunity to give back to our community, and to promote team-building,” said Second Ave CEO Victoria Van Voorhis. “We also want our employees to have healthy lifestyles. So the experience benefited everyone.”
