Second Avenue Software presents at Games for Change Festival
ROCHESTER, NY – Second Avenue Software, a Pittsford-based software development and services company specializing in content authoring, managed services, interactive software and media production, was one of several presenters at the 7th Annual Games for Change (G4C) Festival in New York City in May 2010.
Now in its seventh year, the Games for Change Festival promotes the use of video games to address current social issues. Speakers at this year's event included computer pioneer Alan Kay, researcher James Paul Gee, and writer and consultant Marc Prensky, among many others.
This year's festival concluded with an all-day series of panels entitled Games for Learning: Research and Design Innovation, hosted in partnership with the Games for Learning Institute. Topics covered included design processes, market opportunities, and how best to support lower-performing students.
Second Ave CEO Victoria Van Voorhis was honored to be one of several presenters at the Games for Learning event. She presented Second Ave’s work on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math)-related software, and discussed the current challenges facing independent content providers in the educational software market.
